Exhibition Opportunity

Sound:Space - Call for Submissions

An exciting opportunity has risen to exhibit at Atrium and the Atrium Projection Space at South Hill Park as part of the Sound:Space season on 20 September – 9 November 2008. We invite proposals from visual and digital artists exploring the field of sound art and the representation of sound. We welcome proposals for both moving image/sound and wall-based work.

The Atrium is one of our busiest exhibition spaces and is used by a wide range of South Hill Park visitors. The space also combines a café and a lounge area and we are particularly interested in site-specific works for the space.

The Sound:Space season also includes the Kinetic Drawings exhibition by Max Eastley and the international Sound:Space symposium on 1 November 2008. For further information, please visit: www.southhillpark.org.uk and www.sound-space.info.

The deadline for the proposals is 27 May 2008. There is no fee payable to artists but we provide marketing and technical support. Please indicate your technical requirements in your proposal.

ReOrsa is an artist-led initiative to support and promote professional visual artists living in the Thames Valley (Berkshire, south Bucks, south Oxon) which is actively seeking out opportunities for artists to exhibit their work in the area. We held our first exhibition in October 2007 in a vacant shop space in Bracknell and a Berkshire based company filmed a documentary about the event. To see this short documentary and find out more about ReOrsa please visit www.reorsa.org. We are currently planning a group exhibition to take place in the autumn of 2008 in Berkshire, if you are an installation, conceptual or fine artist interested in perhaps joining ReOrsa please email reorsa(at)googlemail.com. The email has been changed to protect us from spambots, just change the (at) to @

Two Minutes More - date of next meeting

The next meeting of 'Two Minutes More', will take place in the San Francisco Room at South Street Arts Centre on Thursday 8 May between 6.00 pm and 8.00 pm.

This month we’ve set each other the challenge to create something based on the theme of May day, which we can share at the meeting.

Two Minutes More is a group of artists working in a range of different art-forms, who originally met through a ‘Developing Creativity’ professional development session lead by Michael Atavar in October 2007 at South Street.

Are you a local designer / maker / artist / crafts person looking for an opportunity to sell some work in July? If so please read on.

Lauren Denney is organising an exhibition / show in Henley on Thames from 6-12th July.

Lauren says "It will be held in the Exhibition centre behind the town hall the same week as Henley Arts Festival. There will be 14 local makers taking part in the week long show. If you are interested in taking part please email me some photos of your work and i will contact you with more information. The cost is around £130 which will cover advertising, printing, hire and public liability insurance.

I am especially keen to find glass makers, photographers and any other unusual crafts. Please email exhibitions@laurendenney.com if you are interested in taking part. If you don't want to exhibit please make a note in your diary to come and visit anyway"

Tonight's artist meet

Just a reminder that tonight is the Artists Meet- Up at 21 South Street in the San Francisco room, upstairs, 6-8pm

As we are not all from a visual art background the format is to bring something of interest to show, talk about, or work that you may have been working on, finished etc, but not essential. We aim to do a short creative exercise and generally have a chat and get to know each other.

Maybe see you there?

A call for help - Where do you eat your dinner?

Where do you eat your dinner?

I’m a BA photography student working on a project about how, what and who we eat with.

Do you eat at the table? Sitting on the sofa infront of the t.v? On your bed? At your desk? Or do you eat out every day?

Whatever you do, I would love it if you could help me by letting me photograph you as you have your evening meal.

In return I can promise you an unusual portrait, so if you’re interested please get in contact with me at sarah@sarahkench.co.uk

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you.
